A little about me… I’ve been in the hair industry for over 17 years now. Sometimes I can’t believe it’s been that long. I got in this business early through a love of doing hair for my homegirls back in DC. I was really just about making some extra money to buy school clothes back then.

My first true professional experience was moving to New York in… oh nevermind that. Ha! It was the best move for me as a new artist. I was green and ready and full of energy. I remember the early years of working with Puffy while he was starting Bad Boy and handling all his female artists. That was the beginning for me. You’ve seen my work on all those early music videos and magazines with artists like Mary, Faith, Total, Lil Kim. Those were my start-up years, my beginning, my first chance.

As I matured, my passion for hair completely transformed. It became more of a mission than a profession for me. It became about the joy of making an everyday woman over in one single visit. And how that makeover could change someone’s whole way of carrying herself. That’s powerful!

At this time, I began my journey. My purpose. I made a decision to be more than just someone who stands behind the styling chair. I was going to be an artist who would make a difference in the lives of women – famous or not. Around this time, I was inspired to start my company Muze|hair which is all about really customizing a woman’s whole look and making it her own.

I love seeing the look on a woman’s face when she turns to the mirror and gazes upon her new look. Whether it be my more current clients like Tyra Banks and Gabrielle Union or you! The eyes change. The posture gets better. Girl, I have to admit it makes me so proud. I feel pleased to know I can influence image and, thus, self-esteem. I mean, it may sound a bit extreme but it’s really true! A new look inspires a whole new way of living!

To inspire others, I have to be inspired myself. I get my kicks from traveling all over the world and working in some of the most amazing salons. All these influences help keep my creativity flowing and keep my work current and fresh. Going to other countries and continents - like Europe, AFRICA and Asia – is a tremendous inspiration. They are so much ahead of us as far as fashion and beauty goes in some of these places.

One of my clients told me that she felt her hair gave her POWERS. She said, I am stopping cars, all type of unexpected goodnesses!.” I always got a kick out of that. That’s the goal at all times. Stop cars, ladies! Find your pocket and work it out!

I’m going to help you do just that here at HelloBeautiful. I think with all the years of experience I have found my niche. Now it’s time to share it with you all.
