F@#k the Police

I finally understand Spike Lee’s scream in Do the Right Thing. Dam when are we as a people going to get mad and “Wake Up.”I awoke this morning to a report on the radio of Philadelphia police beating three fill in the blank black suspects. After this alarming news (I’m being sarcastic) I proceeded to turn on my TV. As the newscasters talked about Obama’s win in North Carolina in full detail they then moved to a smaller news story and showed the footage of the police beating the hell out of three men. We’ve become numb to these incidents comedians use it as punch. We have become accustomed to the random police searches, traffic stops and “you fit the description.” Why don’t we have the same anger as when we hear a woman has been abused or raped? When a child is kidnapped or abused? These are incidents where we may not know the indiviual but we feel angry when we hear about them. Why don’t we have that same outrage with the beating, injustice or death of a black man or men? I live by the saying “people only do to you what you allow them to do.” Can someone let me know why we continue to allow this?
