The City Girls are Back and Bolder Than Ever

What happens when we have an average brother interview an uptight Manhattan legal eagle from one of television's most loved series? Find out when E. Faush sits down with Cynthia Nixon (a.ka. Miranda) of SEX AND THE CITY.

AVERAGE BROTHER: It's strange sitting down with you 'cause I feel like I know you and never met you.

CYNTHIA NIXON: I get that. Some people on the street really do think you are someone else or they know you. They walk up to you and say, “You where at that thing last night.” Um, no, sorry.

AB: What’s surprised you most about the show's wide appeal? All kinds of people feeling like they know you. I'm not the target demo. But I'm a fan. Rappers shout ya'll out in songs. You have some unlikely fans.

CN: It's true. I don't know. When the series first started I think that people were, particularly men, were taken aback by how much women talk about sex and how interested they are in it and that appealed to them. To be let in on that intimate dialogue. I mean, I think that might be a little scary to some men, but I think also that is basically very good news for men. I think men are really interested in sex but, you know, women are really interested in sex too. And that might have come as a pleasant surprise to you guys on some level.

AB: True. But haven't we seen women do this before? I mean, women gathered, gabbing about this or that. That's not new right? But something about SATC feels new everytime.

CN: Well, in a way though it is kind of overdue and new, because we have such a genre of the buddy movie, the guy movie, the office place film, Men of War or sports movies. It goes on and on and its all male dominated. We really don’t show smart, savvy women together often. Again, I said smart - not caricatures. It is just kind of a genre that was overdue when we started.

AB: So how do you feel about bringing Miranda to life again?
